Chapter Two

Dreamkit walked around the clearing. There were no patrols being sent out, no apprentices training, no...nothing. Dreamkit looked around in worry. She didn't know why all cats were mourning around the side of their dens. Dreamkit narrowed her eyes and walked up to Leopardpaw who was running back in forth from the medicine cat den, to the leader's den. Leaving with nothing, and coming with a bundle of herbs.

"Leopardpaw. What's wrong with everyone? What happened?"

Leopardpaw pointed at the bundle of herbs in her mouth, and then slid into the leader's den. When she came out she answered Dreamkit's question.

"MarshClan attacked. Mousestar wanted more territory, he said that at the last gathering."

Leopardpaw shook her head in confusion.

"But you weren't born yet. But continuing the story. Mousestar threatened to attack if we didn't give him any territory. The two-legs are destroying theirs. Miststar denied, LakeClan was happy about that at least....So finally MarshClan attacked, and Mousestar took one of Miststar's lives...I don't know how many lives she has. Only Sparrowleaf does."

Leopardpaw's story was stopped at Sparrowleaf stuck his head out of the leaders den.

"Leopardpaw! Where are the herbs I sent you to get! Stop talking, or Miststar will lose another life!"

Leopardpaw nodded and mumbled a sorry before running off again. Dreamkit rolled her eyes. She was glad that she didn't want to become a medicine cat. Dreamkit went padding off to find her best friend, Eaglekit.

--------------------------------------------

Dreamkit yowled a mock battle cry as she hurled herself at Eaglekit. Eaglekit dodged to the left, and slammed into Cloudkit, a small silver and white kit that was only a few moons older then Dreamkit and her siblings. Cloudkit leaped at Eaglekit, defending himself, but soon rolled onto the ground as Eaglekit pushed him off. Dreamkit let out a mrrow of laughter and interrupted the two's antics with a battle cry. Dreamkit lunged at Cloudkit, gripping his scruff in her mouth, she flung him across the clearing. Well that's what she though she did, but she really only slid him across the ground.

Dreamkit narrowed her eyes and panted for breath. He was heavier then she expected him to be. She saw Cloudkit let out a chuckle and stand up. Dreamkit looked down as she felt her ears getting hot. This made Cloudkit laugh even louder. But he was soon cut off by his sister Rainkit. Dreamkit looked up to see Cloudkit trying to get out from underneath his much larger sister. She purred in satisfaction and stepped away, letting Cloudkit get a breath.

Dreamkit watched it all happen, all with amusement. Then Dreamkit heard a loud yowl come from the Lakerock. She turned her attention to see Miststar on the edge of the hollow stone, that always filled with water. All the slow activity in the camp was cut off as the warriors and apprentices gathered around. Waiting excitedly. Dreamkit looked at her mother with confusion as Moonlily came out of the nursery. Moonlily smiled and waved her tail for Dreamkit to listen. Dreamkit nodded, but still in confusion. Moonlily sat down beside her and waited for meeting to start.

"LakeClan! Tonight is the gathering! Cats that are hurt shall not be going, since the battle was yesterday! Here are the cats that shall come! Sparrowleaf, Leopardpaw, Flameriver, Robinstep, Dusttail, Leafpaw,  Hawkclaw and Icerain! We leave after everyone eats!"

The clan split up and the chosen cats went to get some freshkill. Dreamkit's eyes widened as she remembered what Leopardpaw had told her about the gathering. Would ALL the leaders be there? What would happen with Mousestar? Dreamki shook her head and ran to Moonlily.

"Why can't I go Moonlily?"

Moonlily chuckled and explained to Dreamkit why she couldn't go.

"You're too young yet. You have to be six moons to be able to go."

Dreamkit scowled.

"That's not fair! I'm old enough!"

Dreamkit puffed out her chest then looked away in sorrow. She had really wanted to go. It sounded interesting and fun!

"Fine....Why isn't the whole clan going then?"

Moonlily rolled her eyes and told Dreamkit to calm down.

"You'll go eventually. Most likely with your mentor."

Moonlily purred and tucked her head under her tail, and soon drifted off to sleep. Dreamkit followed Moonlily's suit and curled up and soon fell asleep too....

--------------------------------------------

Dreamkit woke up in a shining forest. A silver/black cat with dull green eyes was standing before Dreamkit. Dreamkit looked up at the tom in awe. He was so much bigger then her! He also had a look in his eye that showed that he was to be respected.

"Hello Dreamkit. Believe what you see, and doubt what you don't. Listen to those words. Until we meet again Dreamkit."

Dreamkit tilted her head in confusion as this mysterious cat faded away, and left her standing alone in the sparkling forest.

--------------------------------------------

Dreamkit woke with a shock of coldness. But she soon got warmer. She looked around to see that it was still dark, but the moon was going down and the gathering patrol was coming back. Dreamkit looked outside to see the clearing bathed in blood, but when she blinked, it was  normal again....Dreamkit shook her head and tried to listen to what the small patrol was telling some other warriors, but she couldn't hear them very clearly. Her vision was then blocked by a sturdy figure, Hawkclaw. She took a step back as he passed. He shot his green eyes at her, then padded away.

"Believe what you see....doubt what you don't..."

Dreamstar padded back inside the nursery, trying to figure out what these words meant....
